Last week we had the privilege to host the “Silver Saints” from the Baraboo
area for their annual Mystery Trip. Only their coordinator and his wife knew
the destination when they headed out in the morning. We offered a class on
wool followed by a Shepherd’s Look at the 23rd Psalm and a stock dog
demonstration in the afternoon.
Welcoming the group.
Learning about the wonders of wool.
Dr. Guthrie making announcements.
The table decorations.
We had a wonderful time with their group. The fellowship was as enjoyable as
the gorgeous fall day.
Last Christmas we turned a very young Scottish Highlander bull out with our
cows. We really doubted that he was mature enough to get the job done until
last Thursday when I looked out in the field to see this running around.

She’s a little heifer calf the kids named “Sopresa” which means surprise in Spanish.
They think she looks like an ewok from Star Wars.
Megan is trying to tame and halter train her right from the start.
In the spring of 2008, Ron and Paula Roberts bought a honey crisp apple tree
for Harvest Home Farm. Ron and I came home and planted it next to the
windmill. Last year it got chewed up by the deer but survived to bear just one,
perfect apple this fall. We decided to pick it this morning. We all enjoyed it’s
amazing flavor as we thought of the Roberts family who are now serving in Romania.
Thank you for the treat Ron and Paula!
Russ Lang and his grandson James generously donated their time and supplies
to come and install a new, geo-thermal automatic livestock waterer. The water
is actually heated by the warmth of the ground, costing only approximately $9
a year to run.
Thank you Russ and James!
The completed project.
Last weekend was also the grand opening of the new General Store down
in the tack room of the barn. We now have t shirts, hats, mugs, yarn, post-
cards and maple syrup for sale as well as whole chickens and lamb. Many
thanks to Lois and Lisa for all their help decorating and organizing.
