Last winter it was a challenge to keep the house economically warm even
with five heat sources. This fall, my dad and I installed a wood furnace
that was generously donated to the ministry. Yesterday, Mike V and I
disconnected the pellet stove that shared the chimney and fired it up for
the first time. We have already noticed a big (my wife says “HUGE")
difference in the temperature in the house. We are grateful for this blessing
and everyone that made it possible!
150,000 BTU’s!
Becky is always looking for new craft ideas to do with groups or friends.
Recently a friend gave her two new ideas. The Vorwerk women are
always willing to try something new so they got to work making frozen
luminaries and barbed wire stars.
Loosening the ice.
Ready to glow.
Following directions.
Tying the bow.
Both projects got 5 star ratings from the ladies.
Lately we have been working on transforming the pavilion into a winter
program area - a 30 x 50 ice rink.
The first step was to frame in the bottom of the pavilion. The biggest challenge
was that the south end of the pavilion is about 2 feet lower than the north end.
The second step was to lay a 40’ x 60’ sheet of plastic.
We ran the garden hose for 36 hours of consecutive flooding! That got us
close to the top.
We picked up a couple of sturdy metal goals and the competition began…
We hope to use the ice rink to minister to youth groups, clubs and guests.
A dozen pairs of skates were donated to get us started!
Our kids have folded, stuffed or stamped over 2,000 envelopes in the past
6 weeks. Thank you for all the ways you invest in Harvest Home Farm and
our family!
Megan and Madeline joined the 4-H llama project this fall and have been
saving their money to buy two beautiful, young, trained llamas from a
breeder in our area (in contrast to the older, sweet, but mostly unap-
proachable llama that came with the farm). After receiving money for
Christmas and taking bags of change to the bank, they purchased the
llamas last night. The 4-H project members first walked the llamas in the
Whitehall Christmas parade and then they brought the boys home.
