One of our icelandic lambs bonded to the llamas. He hangs out with them in-
stead of the flock. The kids named him, “Llama Lamb.” The other day they
wanted to see if he would follow along when they took the llamas for a walk
and sure enough, he walked the whole way along the trail with us!
Last weekend we were invited to join the Wightman Family for their annual
pumpkin carving contest. Mike and Madeline decided to work together to
create the HHF logo. They won in the categories of “prettiest,” “most cre-
ative,” and “judge’s pick.” Thanks for the fun, Wightman’s!
This fall we had the opportunity to host two Trempealeau County Bus Tours,
one from Grand Rapids, MN and the other from Portage, WI. They came to
see the farm and watch a stock dog demonstration. We had gorgeous weather
for the first group but the morning of the second started off with snow followed
by heavy wind and rain. Becky and Madeline tried, but it was difficult to com-
municate with each other and the dogs with all the wind and the noise from the
bus. As the bus was leaving, it got stuck on the slick lawn and I wound up hav-
ing to pull it out of the yard with the Farmall tractor! In spite of the bad weather,
sub par demonstration and almost getting stranded, the people still gave their
visit an average score of 9.5 out of 10!
Harvest Home Farm welcomes, Glow, a 6 month old female cria, for MJ. He’s
been selling gourds and doing chores to save up enough money to buy her.
She is cute and sweet and already loves him.
Last Saturday, September 19, we partnered with our local church to offer the
second annual Hunter’s Field Day for our community. Families enjoyed a youth
archery range, a wrist rocket range, trap shooting, the DNR’s shooting simulator,
pumpkin painting and a delicious lunch provided by our church. Our pastor crea-
tively shared the Gospel, offering to give a young boy from the audience a brand
new Genesis bow if he could shoot a balloon off the target. The bow that he had
to use belonged to Jason, our local archery store owner. There was no way the
boy could even draw the bow back, so Jason stepped in and shot the balloon for
him. Because of Jason’s grace, the boy received the bow.
We pray that the message of the grace of Christ will make an impact in our com-
munity for eternity.
